Confession of Sin

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against You
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved You with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of Your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in Your will,
and walk in Your ways,
to the glory of Your Name.
Amen.

An Act of Contrition

O my God,
I am heartily sorry
for having offended You,
and I detest all my sins,
because of Your just punishments,
but most of all
because they offend You, my God,
Who are all good
and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve,
with the help of Your Grace,
to sin no more
and to avoid the near occasion of sin.
Amen.

Lamb of God,
who takes away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.

who takes away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us.

Lamb of God,
who takes away the sins of the world,
grant us peace.

Confession of Regret

Loving Creator,
Hear my prayer.
Merciful Redeemer,
Hear my prayer.
Compassionate Spirit,
Please hear my prayer.

I have done harmful deeds and I regret them.
I am ashamed of those deeds,
and I will strive to never do such deeds again.

I have said harmful words and I regret them.
I am ashamed of those words,
and I will strive to never speak such words again.

I have thought harmful thoughts and I regret them.
I am ashamed of those thoughts,
and I will strive to never think such thoughts again.

I have felt harmful emotions and I regret them.
I am ashamed of those emotions,
and I will strive to never feel such emotions again.

I have failed to act when I should have acted
and regret that I allowed harm to occur.
I am ashamed of my inaction,
and I will strive to act to prevent harm in future.

I have failed to speak when I should have spoken
and regret that I allowed harm to occur.
I am ashamed of my silence,
and I will strive to speak to prevent harm in future.

I recognize that all have responsibility
for the welfare of all humankind,
for the welfare of all creatures,
for the welfare of all Nature.

I recognize the harm done
and take full responsibility
for my actions, speech, thoughts, and emotions,
and for my inaction and silence.

I will atone for all harm done
with compassionate actions, speech, thoughts, and emotions
towards those who have been harmed
and those who are in need.

Please forgive me for all harm I have caused or allowed to occur.
Please enable me to atone for all harm done.
And please give me the strength, courage, and wisdom
to avoid causing or allowing harm to occur in future.

Amen.
